Some items need to be written simply "for the record," so Zoe can look back one day and enjoy reading them. These include the following:
- Your Mama has called you "baby duck" nearly since the day you were born. Daddy thinks it's because the hospital receiving blankets had ducks on them.
- When you're being difficult, Mama says you're a "pillbug" - Daddy calls you "silly."
- You're a very good sleeper at night for your age! After we feed you around 9:30 or 10:00, you don't need to be fed again until around 7:00. Though we have to replace your pacifier ("paci" or "passy") several times a night, we usually don't visit you more than 10 times, and sometimes only 3 or 4.
- Speaking of sleeping, you're such a good sleeper that you first slept in your own crib for the night on October 24. Before then, you had been sleeping in the "pack 'n' play" in the corner of Mama and Daddy's room, though you'd taken many daytime naps in your crib.
- You now recognize Mama's and Daddy's voices and faces.
- You can be a very smiley girl when you want to be, and that brightens our day more than anything. The morning, after you've been fed, has been your "happiest" time to date.
- It's common courtesy to tell someone that their baby is cute, but we've been told by most that you're one of the cutest babies they've seen. And it's true.
- We try to take you (and your sister, Hope) on several walks each week, but you've only been able to stay awake for maybe half the time.
- You are a very strong baby so far, too - able to hold your head and upper body up more than we would expect. Rarely are you resting your head on our shoulders as we carry you around - you'd rather see what this world has to offer! We try and assist you in "strength training" by giving you plenty of Bumbo chair and tummy (mat) time.
- Your Mama is a great mama.
- We have hardly been "shut-ins" since your birth. You've been to several friends houses, out to eat, shopping at the mall, Sunday school class, etc. Mama and Daddy are social people, and so far you've let us maintain most of what we had going on prior to you. Even if you didn't though, we'd still love you.
- When we were at Chuy's on Knox St. visiting with your Aunt Kaitlyn and Nana, the t.u. / OU game was on in the restaurant. You were very contently sleeping until t.u. scored a touchdown and people in the restaurant cheered, prompting you to cry. We always knew you were an Aggie.
- On the evening of October 25, over about a 20-minute period, you: 1) pooed on your Daddy [squirting out the side of your over-sized diaper]; 2) got a bath; and 3) peed on your Daddy [though there was a slight towel barrier].
